Book Fashion Friday(... on a Tuesday): Icons

Unless you have been hiding under a rock, or not following me on Goodreads or Tumblr, you will know that I am currently in love with Icons by the crazy talented Margaret Stohl. And, being my favourite book of the year, I couldn't just let its release date go by without doing something out of the ordinary.

I recently started doing a thing on Fridays where I post fashion inspired by book covers, and I thought I'd do a celebratory Book Fashion Friday ... err, Tuesday, because ICONS IS OUT NOW!! *throws confetti, blows up balloons*

US cover:

And inspired by the cover:

I LOVE this dress. Not only is it flouncy and stormy-blue in colour, but the sparkles looks like a lightning bolt! Could it be any more perfect?

Available here for $156. If only I had the money to buy it *sighs wistfully*

But enough of wistful sighs! Here's the UK cover:

And inspired by the cover:

A high impact dress for a high impact book. It's just such a dramatic dress! I can totally image lightning bolts flashing in the sky behind someone wearing this.

Available here for $338

But while I love the UK-cover-inspired dress, I'm really prefer the US cover itself. DAMN BEING BRITISH. Look how spectacularly pretty the US cover is. I want it. I'm probably going to end up importing it from Barnes and Noble or Amazon US because I want it that much, and I need to possess this book in hardcover. I do like our cover but LOOK AT THE HOLE! And the fancy text. And - gah! I'm in love with the US cover. I will own it if its the last thing I do.

Blurb:

Your heart beats only with their permission.

Everything changed on The Day. The day the windows shattered. The day the power stopped. The day Dol's family dropped dead. The day Earth lost a war it didn't know it was fighting.

Since then, Dol has lived a simple life in the countryside -- safe from the shadow of the Icon and its terrifying power. Hiding from the one truth she can't avoid.

She's different. She survived. Why?

When Dol and her best friend, Ro, are captured and taken to the Embassy, off the coast of the sprawling metropolis once known as the City of Angels, they find only more questions. While Ro and fellow hostage Tima rage against their captors, Dol finds herself drawn to Lucas, the Ambassador's privileged son. But the four teens are more alike than they might think, and the timing of their meeting isn't a coincidence. It's a conspiracy.

Within the Icon's reach, Dol, Ro, Tima, and Lucas discover that their uncontrollable emotions -- which they've always thought to be their greatest weaknesses -- may actually be their greatest strengths.

Bestselling author Margaret Stohl delivers the first book in a heart-pounding series set in a haunting new world where four teens must piece together the mysteries of their pasts -- in order to save the future.

It's epic and heart-wrenching and it will make you throw your e-reader at the wall and completely forget that you probably shouldn't do that because it's not a paper copy and that was an expensive device. True Story. (Damn you, Stohl!)

Go buy it right now!
