So this week's BFF is inspired by Untold by Sarah Rees Brennan, a book I have endless love for.

THE BOOK:

THE FASHION:

$278 from Promgirl.

I just really like this dress. It's blue and fancy and for some inexplicable reason I thought of Untold when I saw it. I think it's very sleek and elegant, much like Kami.

So this week's BFF is inspired by Wither by Lauren DeStefano, a Dystopian novel I adore the cover of.

THE BOOK:

THE FASHION:

$370 from Promgirl.

How damn close is this to the cover dress? It's so pretty and frilly! The girl's hair almost looks like Rhine's too! And the pink of the dress is pink like the lines and circles (what are those called?) of the cover!

Book Fashion Friday (19)

Book Fashion Friday is a weekly meme in which I post clothes inspired by YA book covers.

So this week's BFF is inspired by the new Gameboard of The Gods cover, which I have fallen in love with. I never really liked the other two, the US or UK editions, but this new one is perfect and I need to own it ASAP.

THE BOOK:

THE FASHION:

$280 from Promgirl.

I love how the pink and orange are separate yet blend together, and I thought that was a really cool way to feature the orange-pink of the GotG cover. I also like how the embellishments of the waist and neckline are a nod to the stars around Mae's head.

So this week's BFF is inspired by Into The Still Blue by Veronica Rossi, which is out next week! I hate that this series is ending, but this last book is fitting and perfect. I was lucky enough to get a review copy from Harper Collins, so I assure you it's amazing.

THE BOOK:

THE FASHION:

$550 from Promgirl.

I can almost see the aether in that dress!! How pretty is it?

Book Fashion Friday (17)

Book Fashion Friday is a weekly meme here at Syntax Reviews, featuring clothes inspired by YA books covers. Any cover is used for inspiration - new, old, forthcoming,  Feel free to post your own book inspired fashion and link back to this post!

So this BFF is inspired by Fracture Me by Tahereh Mafi, a Shatter Me novella from Adam's POV. I'm really pissed the UK publisher of SM isn't releasing this e-short so I can't read it until Unite Me comes out. Until then I'll have to be satisfied with staring at the pretty cover.

THE BOOK:

THE FASHION:

$149 from Promgirl.

I rarely go for traditional prom gowns, but I loved the colour of this and the small detail. With the intensity of colour and the way the skirt catches the light, I thought it was perfect to reflect the washed out watercolour of the Fracture Me cover.

Book Fashion Friday (16)

Book Fashion Friday is a weekly feature in which I post clothes inspired by YA books covers.

So this week's BFF is inspired by The Almost Girl by Amalie Howard, a book I loved! If you're a fan of science fiction, or just admire a badass heroine, you have to read this book pronto.

THE BOOK:

THE FASHION:

$290 from Promgirl!

I love the silver and blue of this dress, and how the simple lines give it a hard, almost rigid shape while maintaining femininity with the sparkles of the bodice. As soon as I saw this, I thought of Riven, who is equally hard and feminine, though not, to my knowledge, sparkly.

Book Fashion Friday (15)

Book Fashion Friday is a weekly feature in which I post clothes inspired by YA books covers.

So this BFF is inspired by Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr, a lush and wonderful YA fantasy series.

THE BOOK:

THE FASHION:

$358 from Promgirl.

I love how the shape of the dress in that photo looks like the petals of a flower, and it's in such a beautiful colour, with the gemstones of the bodice a subtle nod to the frost of the cover. I could gush about this dress all day.

Book Fashion Friday (14)

Book Fashion Friday is a weekly feature in which I post clothes inspired by YA books covers.

So this week's BFF is inspired by Champion by Marie Lu, a book I treasure. I was so sad to see this series end, but happy it ended with Day and June on good terms, with the promise of a good future. I'm still emotional about it, though.

THE BOOK:

THE FASHION:

$450 from Promgirl.

Instead of going to a cream dress with black and red accents which, let's face it, is a near-impossible dress to find, I went with this. I like how the black and red of the dress reflect the stencil of the rose on fire, and also how the texture of the bodice has a similar texture to the spray paint.

Book Fashion Friday (13)

Book Fashion Friday is a weekly meme in which I post clothes inspired by YA books covers.

Remember when I had a regular posting schedule? Remember that? Nah, me neither.  Hopefully, getting back into a routine of posting these on Fridays! (but don't hold your breath)

So this BFF is inspired by World After by Susan Ee. Finished this book last month and loved it. Such an amazing, gripping series. Can't wait for book three.

THE BOOK:

THE FASHION:

$79 from Promgirl. And yes, I am still obsessed with this website.

I picked a blue and white dress to echo the colours of the World After cover, but I also liked how the collar was sort of reminiscent of wings. Reminds me of Raffe's snowy wings *cries*

Book Fashion Friday - Prodigy

This week's BFF is inspired by Prodigy by Marie Lu!

I wasn't originally going to do Prodigy but I found this dress and it just reminded me of it so much.

The cover:

The fashion:

Same blue cover, the photo and angle of the spread dress looks like the wings of the bird on the cover. I just thought it was perfect.

Available here for $149

Book Fashion Friday: Unspoken

Wow I am shit at keeping up with these things. I'm like two, maybe three, weeks behind. Oops, sorry.

Anyway! This week's BFF is inspired by the amazing Unspoken by Sarah Rees Brennan. I went with the US cover because exceptionally pretty.

The cover:

The fashion:

Fancyyyy~~ also pink! The cover is fancy and pink, the dress is fancy and pink. I have nothing else to add to this.

Available here for $398.

Book Fashion Friday: Under The Never Sky

I had a mental debate whether to do this for the UK or the US edition, and the UK won out because of its pink and beautiful cover. But I will do the US cover for Through The Ever Night at some point.

The cover:

The fashion:

Pretty and pink like the cover, with a delicate beauty that reminds me of Aria. It also has an orange tint to it, much like the text of the cover.

Available here for $278

Book Fashion Friday: The Scorpio Races

I decided on the newest cover for The Scorpio Races (this weeks BFF). I think it's more atmospheric and representative of the book altogether.

The cover:

The fashion:

I chose this because the fabric of the dress is similar to how the water is painted on the cover, and because the red is a deep colour, evocative of blood in the sea. Or to me at least.

Available here for $119

7 June 2013

Book Fashion Friday: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

This weeks BFF is inspired by Mara Dyer, though it's more by the dress on the cover than the actual cover.

The cover:

The fashion:

I don't have much to say about this dress. It's dainty and similar to the cover dress.

Available here for $119

Okay, confession time. I'm really addicted to this prom dress website. I will be searching for other prom dress websites as well. I need prom dress rehab.

And - you guessed it - todays Book Fashion Friday is a prom dress. It's also inspired by Delirium by Lauren Oliver.
