Summer reads

I don't know about you, but this summer I plan to read a lot. In a week The Forgotten will be finalised and done for good, and I only have one small project to do over the summer so I will have plenty of time to read some much anticipated books.

On my to-read list this summer are:

Seven Realms: The Demon King | Cinda Williams Chima

This just sounds epic and awesome, and both the US and UK covers are interesting and unique.

This is one I've been meaning to read since it came out. I have the hardcover of its sequel - that's how sure I am that I will love this book.

I should be all read-out with vampire books ... but that is never going to happen. This sounds like an awesome new twist on the children of night and I've heard good things. Here's hoping it lives up to the hype since I wasn't fussed on Kagawa's Iron Fey series.

Heard a lot about this. I was heavily biased since people said Icons wasn't as good because they had read this first, but then I realised that was a stupid reason not to read a book. Especially a Sci-Fi alien invasion book!

This is everything I want in a book. I've been meaning to read this all year, but haven't got around to it. This summer I will!





As you can see a fair few of these are high fantasy. The reason for this is that the small project mentioned above is of that genre and I always like to read a lot of books in the genre I'm writing so I have a good feel for the genre and I can see what's overdone, what is yet to be done, some of the 'typical' elements of the genre, etc. More on this small project to come when it's written, though there is a teaser blurb here.
