Thoughts: ???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!

25th April

Read to page 478 (90 pages read) and holy hell did I need that kiss. It's been horrible angsting agony for them to be apart!

26th April

SO CLOSE to being finished (read 78 pages, taking me to 556) and while I want to escape these crushing emotions, I cannot bear to have this series finished. I can't imagine how it must feel to those who have read this series from the very start; I only read DoSaB two months ago and I'm crying every few pages at the thought of Karou's story being done.

27th April

Current page/percent: page 613
Read today: 57 pages
Thoughts: I am destroyed.

Books finished this week: 1, though lets be real DoGaM is totally worth two. 613 pages!!

~

Books added to my collection:
(a new feature of Reading Round Up, because I don't get enough books per week to justify a separate post for Stacking The Shelves or In My Mailbox but I want to share my new books.)

The first 13 Morganville Vampires books.
I found all these in a charity book box and paid £10 for the lot of them. Don't know if I'll get around to reading them any time soon, or if I'll even like them, but they were a bargain.

Dreams of Gods and Monsters | Laini Taylor
Which you already guessed anyway... since I've read it. But hey look at this cute photo of Nolan.

Cover reveal: Shadows Fall Away, by Kit Forbes

Shadows Fall Away | Kit Forbes
Expected September 23rd 2014 from Month9Books

Mark Stewart is one incident away from becoming a juvenile delinquent, and his parents have had enough. They ship Mark off to London England to stay with his eccentric aunt Agatha who is obsessed with all things Jack the Ripper. After a strange twist of luck, Mark is struck by lightning, and he wakes to find himself in 1888 Victorian London.

His interest in a string of murders Scotland Yard has yet to solve make him a likely suspect. After all, why would a young boy like Mark know so much about the murders? Could he be the ripper they've been searching for? Convinced the only way to get back home is to solve the murders, Mark dives headfirst into uncovering the truth.

Mark's only distraction comes in the form of the beautiful Genie Trembly, a girl who is totally out of his league and who may have already caught the attention of the infamous ripper. To save her, he'll endanger both their lives, and risk being trapped in the past forever.

Bout of Books 10

Bout of Books

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team

I'm finally participating in a Bout of Books!! I've been eyeing the read-a-thon since 8, but my schedules have always collided with it. But this time I am free!! And dear lord do I need a read-a-thon, I have so many books I'm meant to have read but I've been just too busy.

I usually read between 2 and 2.5 books per week, so I'm gonna aim for 4/5. Hopefully 5, but I have very little faith.

#LGBTApril book recs

LGBTA+ Book Recommendations

It's been a while since I've made a book recs post, and since it's LGBTA+ month, I have the perfect excuse. It's becoming harder and harder to find queer books in genre fiction, mostly because I've already read the books out there . But every so often I stumble across a few gems, and these are the ones I've found.

Books I have read and personally recommend:

The Proxy series | Alex London (Gay main character)
The Coldest Girl In Coldtown | Holly Black (Transgender secondary character)
The Dream Thieves/The Raven Cycle | Maggie Stiefvater (Gay main/secondary character)

The Demon's Lexicon series | Sarah Rees Brennan (Gay secondary character)
The Lynburn Legacy series | Sarah Rees Brennan (Lesbian secondary character)
The Pantomime series | Laura Lam (Intersex main character)

Books I have yet to read but other people recommend:

Every book ever by Malinda Lo (Lesbian main characters abound)

Books I know are LGBTA+ but don't know in what way:

The Culling | Steven Dos Santos
Coda | Emma Trevayne
Witch Eyes | Scott Tracey

Reading round up (23)

Reading round up is a weekly journal where I record my daily reading progress and my thoughts on each book as I read it. I have a tonne of novellas so I'm hoping to read a few of those, along with some galleys. I'm super behind with galleys.

14th April

Finished Proxy (30% read) and let's not ever talk about that ending okay. What the hell happened?

15th April

Current page/percent: 27%
Read today: 27%
Thoughts: Woah. What a way to start. So happy this didn't disappoint.

16th April

Current page/percent: 45%
Read today: 18%
Thoughts: Yeah. Pretty great. Maybe a bit droning, but hoping it's gonna change. It feels as if the character is just going through the motions.

17th April

Current page/percent: 77%
Read today: 32%
Thoughts: This got better. I think the dialogue and interaction makes this book a bit more compelling. If it had been Avene on her own, I think I'd have been irritated by her by now.

18th April

Finished The Headhunters Race (22% read), and read a further 5% of Defy by Sarah. B. Larson, taking me to 9%, though it looks like I'll be abandoning it for a few days, since Dreams of Gods and Monster came!!

19th April

Went out to see Bayside today so didn't read anything at all. Bayside were awesome, if you were wondering. In other news: I am now starting Dreams of Gods and Monsters.

20th April

Current page/percent: page 75
Read today: 75 pages
Thoughts: Ooh I like this new character. I have a theory she's one of the Godstars, and that they left to be hidden on Earth. Lets see if I'm right.
